The Uprising in Hungary (1956)
The causes of the Hungarian uprisings were general anger at the communists government mostly at its forceful taking of property, censorship of the press, and brutal tactics to keep dissent low. The uprisings began as a student demonstration that was quickly joined by workers and many Hungarian people. Within a short span of time the demonstrations forced the communists party to give up power. The Soviet Union saw this as a threat to itself and the Warsaw Pact, and decided to use the Soviet Army to crush the rebel scum, After initial set backs the Soviet Army was able to regain control of Budapest and restore the communist government to power.
